The East Hampton Elementary Schools are excited to announce the 2017 Summer Reading Program for all k-5 students. By providing students with the freedom to select their own books, we hope to promote an exciting and meaningful summer reading experience.
Our goal is to keep students connected to reading skills that were practiced throughout the school year and ultimately to promote the development of life-long learners. Reading is an important aspect of this.
The book titles on the attached list are suggestions to aid in book selection based on your child’s independent reading level. Please note that books are not arranged by interest level. Your child should be able to read books in their level without help. If you do not know your child’s Guided Reading level, please ask their teacher.
The titles represent a variety of genres and include both fiction and non-fiction selections. Parents are encouraged to participate in the book selection process to ensure that the book's theme, reading level, and content area are appropriate for the individual student and respect the family's values and interests.
You can find these books at the East Hampton Public Library or any bookstore.
Happy Reading!
